A bipartisan group of American lawmakers have called on Washington to halt arms sales to Saudi Arabia amid the Riyadh regime’s onslaught of civilians in Yemen. US Representative Ted Lieu’s office announced that the Democratic lawmaker is circulating a draft letter to President Barack Obama, in which the signatories will demand an end to America’s unconditional support for the kingdom. “Any decision to sell more arms to Saudi Arabia should be given adequate time for full deliberation by Congress,” the draft reads. Representatives Ted Yoho of Florida, John Conyers of Michigan and Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina are helping Lieu with the letter, which has been signed by twenty other lawmakers so far. US Secretary of State John Kerry has traveled to Saudi Arabia to discuss the Riyadh regime’s deadly war on Yemen as well as its involvement in the years-long Syria conflict, according a senior US official. The top US diplomat arrived in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Wednesday and met with the kingdom’s Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir. Kerry also met Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and was slated to meet with King Salman and officials from some other Persian Gulf Arab nations during his two-day visit. Presenting Washington’s proposals on ending the Saudi-led air and ground aggression against Yemen was high on Kerry’s agenda, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a senior American official. China has expressed concern about India’s plans to put advanced missiles along the border between the two countries. Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian said on Thursday that maintaining peace and stability in the border region was an "important consensus" reached by the two Asian countries. He added that India could put more efforts into regional peace and stability rather than the opposite. "We hope that the Indian side can do more to benefit peace and stability along the border and in the region, rather than the opposite," Wu said, without elaborating. The remarks came in response to media reports about India's plan to put highly-developed cruise missiles along its border with China. A large number of activists have held a demonstration in the US city of Los Angeles to protest against Israel and Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee. The pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched on Monday night near the Beverly Hills home of Zionist billionaire Haim Saban, who was hosting a big fundraising event for Clinton. The protest rally was organized by the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (or BDS Movement), which seeks to end the Israeli occupation and colonization of Palestinian lands. The protesters were carrying placards against the Israeli occupation and in support of the Palestinian people. A Muslim family has sued a school in the US state of New York for allegedly forcing their son to sign a false confession claiming he was a terrorist. According to the $25 million lawsuit, Nashwan Uppal, a 12-year-old with severe learning disabilities, was harassed and bullied with Islamaphobic taunts. Attorney David Antwork said the school’s Assistant Principal Jason Stanton pressured Uppal to fill out a written confession. “Stanton repeatedly asked Nashwan if he was a terrorist, and if he made bombs in his house,” the complaint says. When he said no, an increasingly irate Stanton allegedly bellowed, “Don’t lie to us!” The family of Uppal, who live in Long Island, New York, alleged school authorities forced the boy to “confess” he was a member of the Daesh terrorist group and that he was planning to blow up the school’s outside fence. A young man has been killed and several others injured during clashes between Indian forces and protesters in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. The fresh fierce clashes erupted on Wednesday after Indian troops tried to stop thousands of Kashmiri protesters defying a curfew in the southern town of Pulwama. The local police superintendent said the casualties were caused as Indian troops fired tear gas and shotguns to disperse the crowd. "This youth died of (shotgun) pellet injuries,” Rayees Mohammad Bhat said.   Witnesses and local residents said Indian forces indiscriminately fired shotguns to disperse the crowd, adding that the agitated protesters responded with rocks. The angry demonstrators were protesting against recent civilian killings at the hands of Indian forces across the Muslim-majority region. US President Barack Obama is set to visit Louisiana to see the impact of the devastating floods there, following jibes by US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.   The White House released a statement on Sunday, saying Obama would set off to Baton Rouge on Tuesday and has ordered federal aid to help state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by flooding. This marks one of his first orders of business as he returns from vacation, which Trump was quick to point out during his visit earlier.  According to the White House, the president received updates about the situation in Louisiana while he was in Martha’s Vineyard, an island resort in Massachusetts where he was on a 16-day family vacation.
