Iran vanquishes Jordan 94-53 in WABA Junior Championship 2017


The Iran men's junior national basketball team has recorded its third consecutive victory at the 7th edition of the West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Junior Championship.
On Saturday evening, the Iranian juniors claimed a 94-53 win over Jordan in a match staged at Azadi Basketball Hall in western Tehran.
The Iranian basketball players made a sound start and tallied enough points to claim the first quarter 27-20.
The Iranians kept the dominance in the second quarter, scoring points to surge ahead. They eventually registered a sixteen-point lead and clinched the quarter 26-10.
The Iranian side showed no sign of surrender as it entered the third quarter. The Persians mounted a string of attacks, and put the opposite side under a relentless spell of pressure to accumulate all the points. They ultimately closed the quarter at 15-11.
In the final quarter, the Iranian team maintained superiority and could take the quarter by 26 points to 12 at last.
The Iranian outfit is scheduled to face Lebanon on Sunday evening.
The 7th edition of WABA Junior Championship started in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, on April 19, and will run through April 23, 2017.
The tournament has brought together national junior basketball teams from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

Iran, Turkey, Qatar mull land route amid Saudi crisis

Turkey seeks to establish a land route via Iran for trade with Qatar which has relied on both countries for sourcing food since a diplomatic crisis broke out with Saudi Arabia. Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci on Saturday was in Tehran where he was expected to discuss using Iran’s land route to facilitate trade with Qatar, Anadolu quoted him as saying. "We're thinking about alternatives for land trade routes with Qatar but the easiest way is passing through Iran," Zeybekci said, according to the news agency.  He traveled to Tehran to attend the swearing-in of President Hassan Rouhani along with delegates from around the world. Yemeni tribes joind hands to counter Saudi aggression

Yemeni tribes in different provinces have joined forces to counter the deadly Saudi aggression against their country, vowing revenge for the blood of the innocent. In the northwestern province of Hajjah, the tribes of the Sharafein district expressed their readiness to deploy forces to the battleground in response to a call issued by the tribes of Khulan and Sanhan, Yemen’s al-Masirah television reported on Saturday.
